Sunday 29/08/09, 10:21pm - New Biscuit Pixels

I've made some brand new pixels for the "Food" section, based on a huge weakness of mine; biscuits! I don't mean the American kind of biscuit, I mean the sweet kind that you dunk in tea. There's a Bourbon biscuit, some iced biscuits, a Jammie Dodger and an Oreo cookie. None of them really look like what they're supposed to be, but oh well- they're cute, right? Lol, I hope you like them! I've also added a new page to the "Me" section, containing the Teacups and Memo Pads that I've collected at Teahouse MB over the years. My collections are pathetic at the moment, since I was inactive for a looong time but I just wanted to make a page to keep them all on in case I collect any more in the future.

Like I mentioned in my previous update, I'll be going to stay with my family on Monday, so I won't be able to reply to messages or update my website until Thursday or so. I really can't wait- I don't get to see my family very often because it takes quite a while to get up there. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks for reading- I hope you all have a lovely week! And thanks to Nara for my gorgeous avatar.

New Pixels:

Sunday 27/08/09, 5:24pm - I'm an auntie!

My sister gave birth to a baby girl two days ago! I haven't had the chance to see her or my sister yet, but I'll be going up to see my family on Monday when I have enough money to get up there. I don't think I'd ever want to have children myself; the idea of pregnancy and childbirth literally terrifies me, but I'm so happy for my sister and I can't wait to meet the new addition to my family.

I know I said I'd add more new button templates, but I've made myself sick of making buttons, lol! I've made sooo many over the past few weeks and even though I really enjoyed it, I'm going to give the button-making a rest for a little while. Instead I'm going to work on some pixelled icons for the visitor section. I've already made one and as soon as I've made more, I'll make a page for them. I have even more adorable buttons for you to link me with, including an amazing set by Lou:

How cute are they? I literally can't stop staring at them, lol. Take care, all; I'm going to take my new buttons and plug Catch a Star on random plugboards for a while. Thanks to Maxine for my cute avatar!

Sunday 23/08/09, 12:14pm - New Blank Buttons

Thanks to Lou for my gorgeous avatar! I apologise for not updating for a week; I've been busy doing a button swap over at Teahouse MB. As a result, I have lots of cute new 88x31 link buttons made by some very talented people, and you can see the buttons I made for them in return in my Portfolio. It was so much fun swapping buttons and I'm hoping to do some more button swaps in the future.

I'm in the process of redoing my "Blank Buttons" page; I'd like to make a lot of brighter, more detailed blank buttons. I've added a "Fruit" set so far, and I'm hoping to add some more sets over the next week or so. I'd still love to hear what you guys would like to see more of at Catch a Star, so please comment if you have any ideas! Take care!

P.S. I've been deleting a lot of stuff from my photobucket account since they decided to give non-paying users less bandwidth, so if you notice an image that's randomly disappeared, please let me know.

Friday 14/08/09, 5:48pm - Stargazing

Me and my boyfriend went into the back garden late last night to again try to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower, but we still had no luck. The sky looked so pretty, though; all of the stars were out so we spent ages just staring at them. Everytime I see the stars, it reminds me how huge the universe is, and I sometimes wonder if somewhere, on another planet, in another galaxy there might be people just like us...the universe is just too huge for there to be no other intelligent life out there. I sound so cheesy right now, haha but I just find space so interesting.

I've added a new pixel clique; "Stargazing"; it's just a little image that you can put on your site if you find stars fascinating. I really enjoyed drawing it, even though I find it insanely difficult to pixel things from an angle- that's why the bunny looks kinda weird. I'm also working on some new Star Catching Bunnies; they should be up sometime today or tomorrow!

Thanks for reading; I'll be back soon with some more new content! I'd like to make some more blank buttons, and maybe some kind of finding activity in which you have to find a hidden pixel. If you have any other ideas for things I could add to Catch a Star, please comment and let me know! And thanks to Kim for the amazing avatar used in this blog.

P.S. Lou has put up an "Alice in Wonderland" themed layout over at Sugary Star- be prepared to be amazed! It's probably my favourite pixel layout out of all of the ones I've seen since I've been in the 'pixelling scene'; I especially love the tea coming out of the teapot, and the tiny hedgehog crawling across the bottom of the frame. Go and check it out if you haven't already!

Edit: I've finished the Star Catching Bunnies; there are six available to adopt, so be quick in case somebody picks your favourite! The bunnies have all been adopted now; thanks and congrats to everyone who managed to get one!

Wednesday 12/08/09, 7:39pm - New Panda Pixels

I've finally managed to make a new set of pixels, featuring pandas! There are only two pixels in the set so far, but I'm hoping to make more when I get the inspiration for them. One of them is perching on a jam jar, and the other is holding a slice of toast covered in jam; scroll down to see them. And if you have any ideas for more pixels that contain jam and pandas, please let me know! I'd really like to fill up my "Pixels" section with lots of cute, new pixels over the next few months or so, so keep checking back.

Me and my boyfriend are going to head out tonight to see if we can see the Perseids meteor shower; I don't know if the sky will be clear enough to see anything, but we're going to be having a drink or two anyway so even if we don't see anything, it should still be a good night. I love anything space related...I'm a bit of a geek actually, lol. Take care and I'll be back with more updates soon! Avatar credit: gift from Ava (site no longer exists).

Edit on 13/08/09: I've added another pixel to the "Jam Panda" set; it's a panda holding a doughnut filled with jam. Thanks to Lou for suggesting it! I tried to animate it to make the jam ooze out of the side when the panda squeezed it, but I couldn't get it to look right so I settled for a simple bouncing heart animation instead. I'll try to animate it how I want to in the future but it was just driving me crazy so I'll leave it for now.

I didn't get to see the meteor shower last night...the sky was way too cloudy, I couldn't even see the stars. But even if the sky was clear, I probably wouldn't have seen anything because by the end of the night, I was very drunk. So yeah...it was still a great night!

Edit 2: "the sky was way too cloudy, I couldn't even see the clouds"...how did I manage to proof-read my blog three times and not notice that? LOL sorry! *edits*

Friday 07/08/09, 12:59pm - I'm back!

I've got a bit of a confession to make...I am terrible at coding. I've always been terrified of anything CSS or Javascript related, and I've never bothered to learn anything new when it comes to web design; I've always stuck with what I know. But now, I've decided to stop being lazy and actually learn to use CSS and other things properly. It may take me a while to become nearly as good as you guys at web design, since I'm an incredibly slow learner but I'm going to stick with it so wish me luck (and please point me in the direction of some CSS tutorials that are actually easy to understand)!

Last night I learned how to make rollover thingies on my layout with Javascript, thanks to a great tutorial at Sugary Star; you'll be able to see the results if you hover over my navigation to the left. It's a very simple rollover, since I was really just testing it. But I'm really happy because this means that when I eventually make a new layout, I'll be able to have hidden things and cool rollover effects. By the way, if you have Firefox, please let me know if my layout still looks okay, because I'm worried that I've messed it up with all of this newfangled code.

So...yeah, I'm actually interested in web design again! And I'm keen on getting back into pixelling as soon as possible, too; I haven't pixelled anything for such a long time, so I'd really like to make some new adoptables and a layout as soon as I get the inspiration. It will probably take me a looong time to make a layout and code everything, since basically everything needs to be revamped, but watch this space. Thanks for reading! And thanks to Sayclub for the adorable image that I'm using as an avatar; I was feeling too lazy to dig out one of my "real" avatars.

Edit: I've been using this page to test some CSS codes- look, I have a header! *pokes* Let me know if the CSS works in Firefox, since I don't have that browser and therefore cannot check. I've also changed my "Favourites" frame on the left; it is now an "Affiliates" frame since I love you guys so much.
