I've devised this list of tips to help you with your pixelling; I hope you find them helpful.
This sounds so cliché, but it is very important; practice makes perfect. The more pixels you make, the more you will learn what works and what doesn't, which will make your pixels a lot better. There is always room for improvement when it comes to pixelling.
Try not to compare your pixels with those that other people have made- you have your own style of pixelling so just because someone else's pixels look more intricate than yours', it doesn't necessarily mean that they are better at pixelling than you. And besides, everybody has to start from somewhere. My pixels were terrible when I first tried drawing in Paint, and I'm sure other pixellers will tell you the same thing. I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn about pixelling, but I'm a lot happier with my creations now that I've stopped comparing them to those of other people.
Don't discourage yourself from pixelling something just because it seems complicated. Just have a go and who knows, you might surprise yourself with what you can actually draw.
Experiment with more difficult shapes and objects until you get the hang of them.
Try to think of original things to pixel, as this will give your visitors something to see on your website that isn't available anywhere else. What I do when I'm trying to think of new ideas for pixels is to take an object and a creature that I like, and stick them together to make something cute and new.
